I really love good coffee, but I will drink bad.I mistakenly waited until the *machine* had stopped dripping water IN to the filter, which is how I would typically do it with a regular coffee maker, then pull the pot out to pour, even if a few drops of water land on the heating platform and sizzle no biggie. It cost much more than needed to make a cup of coffee but the review of the quality convinced me it was worth it.it’s a stupid thing that I couldn’t imagine until I tried it.I have had every price range of coffee makers and when I moved recently, it was time for a new one.Rather fussy directions.Maybe I am a coffee snob but I could never seriously consider one of those. Most important, great tasting coffee from a conical filtration system .People, please read the Owners Manual. The only way to accomplish a successful poor is to do it extremely slowly and once the coffee level is below the two cup mark and you have to rotate the carafe toward 90 degrees to poor you get a mess with the filter/grinds.I was deciding between this and the mr coffee thermal vaccume coffee maker.I bought it because of its reviews, and reviews around the web. There’s some reasons why that’s probably the case, but we can probably stop right there. After evaluating several options, the Zutto quickly rose to the top of my list based on the well-thought out design, minimal bells & whistles, and lack of common usage ‘quirks’ exhibited by other comparable products (e.But after ten years of use I wanted to replace it, so I ordered another one (because the first one had been great.I do not plan to replace the carafe, I plan to purchase a different coffee maker.I replaced a similar sized Black and Decker machine with this unit because the B&D started cutting off early and the timer went intermittent.Decision time—replace the carafe, replace the coffee maker, or buy a different brand. The unit stopped filtering things out sometime in Summer 2019.
But, it has some annoying quirks. With the COVID19 restrictions, I’ve been working from home and brewing two pots every single day for the last several months. It’s perfect for 1 or 2 people. The removable water tank and filter are great features.I am the only coffee-drinker in my household, so I wanted a small coffee maker.I’m downsizing, so it’s great for limited counter space. After a month, I like the coffee.I soaked all of the removable parts in soapy water overnight. For two years, it sat on the counter being used only a couple of times. This purchase was a replacement for one where the glass carafe accidentally broke. But the $63 price tag is a bit much for what it actually does.As we all know, the number cups any maker are said to be able to make are in Lilliputian measurements.Secondly, very easy clean-up accompanied with simple long term maintenance .Coffee because all the action happens at the pot, so the pot is the only thing you will ever need to rinse out.It may say "5-cup", but their cups must be the size of thimbles.I almost wanted to dock off a point for not having a timer and all that but then I remembered that’s just more crap that gets stuffed into the thing that can cause issues. The coffee it makes rather good.Coffee .I even bought and returned the Bonavita, which was pricey, yet did not live up to its claims of hot, great coffee. Most notably, the cone filter is an odd size, being too small for the smallest reusable filter on the market , so it’s not possible to use a rigid/reusable filter with this machine.
I love that it stays so "clean" b/c you put the coffee filter /coffee directly into the pot, vs.5 years and it is still in good condition.I wanted a petite coffee maker and the Zojirushi EC-DAC50 Zutto 5-cup Drip coffee maker is exactly that. There is no auto shut off or ability to sneak a cup of coffee while it is brewing. When I was looking for a small coffee maker to replace my Cuisinart 4-Cup, the Zutto seemed like the obvious choice. This leak would only be a problem if one removed the tank to refill it.It did not dissipate even after multiple flushes.Rounded internal tanks are nearly impossible.I’ve had very expensive coffee makers and inexpensive ones as well… Some better than others but the difference slight at best… I bought this unit primarily for its removable water tank after seeing the literal CRUD in the expensive unit I had been using.Reminiscent of hotel room brewers. My Silver Art died so I tried to replace it with Consumer Reports recommended buy for good coffee, the Hamilton Beach 12-cup.Of equal importance, it makes the best coffee from any automatic drip coffee maker I have ever had .I ignored the reviews sadly.I love coffee and have been tempted to buy a $300 Technivorm at times, but this coffeemaker does a great job.We use this two make two or three pots in a row, changing the coffee type and strength depending on who’s around. The reservoir eventually became clogged , so the coffee pot ceased working. And you get 2 big mugfuls and then some.Secondly, coffee taste ranges from unremarkable to bad.The filter rest inside the glass pot to accommodate the compact design.I also love the design of the filter sits in the carafe.
