GOLD! I struck gold with this bad boy.I liked mine so much I bought my daughter one too.Cheaply made, the screen was coming apart right out of the box, the lid doesn’t seal , stainless steel is magnetic, no way it keeps coffee hot for any appreciable amount of time. The mesh filter got a little bit stained.I’ve had this for several months and use it once, maybe twice, a day.The piece that had the screw to hold all the filters together disconnected from the screw. The one at my job that we use on the daily is a $100 Frieling and, tbh, I really don’t see much of a difference between the two. There is a bit of technique and a few details to mind.It has to go back.I had the pot for close to a year and the sleeve came off the filter assembly stick. In fact, the screen on this press filters out more coffee sediment than any other press I’ve owned which is a VERY favorable feature to me.Poor Welding. He mentioned he wanted to start "French pressing" again, and so I came across this on Amazon. It pours well .Not only is the product amazing, but the customer service of the manufacturing company is beyond comparison. These are careless oversights in the design of the unit, both of which could pose a burn/scald hazard. However, the screw became loose from the bottom piece so now in order to disassemble it, I have to use pliers… I will probably still use it, I just expected more.Easily falls apart with pressure and can’t fix it.It was a pretty standard affair — glass beaker, the rest was plastic, save for the metal plunger.

The threads in the part that screws onto the plunger handle are apparently threaded into some pretty soft metal and they just started ‘wobbling out’ until there were no more threads and the plunger handle couldn’t be screwed in again.Unlike Bodum, the screw piece which holds the filters in place on Secura does not slide up and down the rod when unscrewed.Wow! that’s terrible, like fingers on a chalkboard. My “BUT” is this: when I first used it I was deeply disappointed, as there were grinds in my coffee.Make sure you clean thoroughly. The Good: It is insulated. This stainless press makes a great cup of coffee and I did not notice any grounds in my cup. This was certainly not the first glass French Press that pooped out on me but it was the most frustrating because I did nothing wrong and it has a protective sleeve!!!Anyhoo, I went to the local chain of famous stores with home products that sends out 20% coupon– no name mentioned. After repeated hand washings and several times through the dishwasher the bad taste remains.I began the search to find something that made coffee that was just as strong, just as easy, and could make one or three cups if I had company.Handle broken off body of item.I use a Burr grinder which is effective in producing a coarse output.Update: I finally threw this out today as the screw is totally stripped. Most of these cheap glass presses broke within a month’s use.Just 4 months after purchase the filtering part of the french press does not work and does not filter[/review3][review4] I use this for brewing loose leaf tea, and I use my Bodum French press for coffee. The double-wall stainless keeps the coffee inside hot, and is easy to clean. However, I think this one is poorly made. However, 1,000ml seemed large and I didn’t need double walled insulation, but those are really the only options on Amazon.

It’s all about technique. So, I decided to get her a metal one that she can’t break. The metal at the top of the column, which is supposed to seal the top of the press so that coffee comes out in a consistent stream, is too small for the cylinder, and so it rattles and moves around too much..Just got it in the mail and I am extremely happy.Pros: Makes good coffee, decent price, better than a full on coffee maker and doesn’t take up much space. If there is insulation, it is certainly NOT like a stainless Thermos-type vacuum bottle like you would expect on a high quality coffee maker, which is what I was expecting. But other than that, I like it.I decided that there would be a day here and there where I may have another cup later in the day and didn’t want to clean the smaller one again to make a fresh brew. I am done with electric percolators not holding up to their end of the bargain.I feel the benefit of the stainless steel makes any quality lost worth it.I’ve had the stainless Secura for about two years and it’s a true bargain.Coffee grinds will forever be trapped in the filter. The first one I purchased was about the same price as the Secura, and claimed to be made entirely of glass and stainless steel.Without a doubt, the Secura press out performs far and above our old press.I opted for the 17 oz.However, a week later the filter assembly fell apart. After a couple days of research and surviving via my camping percolator on my gas stove, my conclusion was a French Press, so I headed to Amazon to read reviews on the available options.I cannot get the screw to release next to the filter to replace or clean it.
