I don’t know that I would have given the individual components 5 stars, but I’ll throw in an extra star for the pure convenience and accept that a couple compromises were needed to put both functions in one unit. However, I also make sure to empty out the water reservoir on the single-cup side. After a short time, the hot water dispenser side starts blinking "add water" and it will not longer heat the water. It’s the hot water for tea side that malfunction. The water on the hot water side tastes like plastic. We immediately dumped the water, dried it, and packed it back up.However, after less than 4 months the new one began to leak because the bottom panel was already rusted! We checked the plug area to ensure it was correctly inserted and we were very careful not make sure no water accidentally spilled while pouring into the reservoir, so it was definitely not our fault. So I have to pay both ways for a piece of crap product and do without a coffeemaker until they receive mine and then ship replacement. The first one, out of the box, immediately threw the "red light" error on the water side. The problems come in because everyone has a different take on what coffee is supposed to taste like and unfortunately many of them are dead wrong.Easy to set timer. My husband took one of the dead units apart and determined the problem is that the plastic is just not capable of the sustained heat in the hot water unit–it becomes brittle and ultimately fails. The coffee maker is functioning fine and coffee drinkers are enjoying Sumatra brewed through on time. Will continue to try to solve the problem this weekend, but I’m not hopeful.I like everything about this coffee maker except the coffee it makes.Initially, our carafe leaked and we returned it for a replacement. One tiny additional gripe is that there’s no indicator or reminder to change the water filters but this is easy enough to keep track of.Two major problems with unit:#1 – It took 2 solid weeks of flushing and boiling with vinegar to finally eliminate the hot plastic taste from the hot water side! Seriously I must have flushed it 25 times and only then did it not taste or smell horrible.I loved it.While it USED to be readable easily, now, there is no backlighting, and glare on the non-backlit LED screen make it impossible to read, unless you crouch down, get level with the display, and make sure there is a) enough lighting behind you to be able to view it and 2) not too much lighting behind you, which will cause glare, rendering it, again, unreadable.
We received one cup of hot water out of the hot water dispenser, which was great. The hot water side makes hot water and such…BUT the hot water tastes weird…? I followed the flush and first use instructions to a T.However, one of the main reasons we bought it was for the "Hot Water System. It brews quickly, quietly, and stays hot! The hot water dispenser has a lock on it so it won’t be pushed accidentally and burn anyone. All the power to the machine would go out and we just had to let it set an hour or so before it would begin working again. The second one lasted 2 years. So I could get coffee and hot water for tea from a single unit. The carafe has an open spout i.The hot water function is such a convenience.g.It was easy to set up.Coffee pots because they’re cheap, but now I know why.Gets pretty expensive when you purchase higher dollar products! The Thermal Carafe with auto shut off feature appeals for that reason, though I like a steaming hot cup and think it could actually be hotter- it does retain heat for a few hours.Called company first time gal suggested I unplug it for at least two hours and see it is resets so water can start to heat properly.I bought the insurance too and figured that this could help resolve any issues that came up.This one SEEMED the best, but I saw so reviews that claimed the water coming out of the "hot water" side of the machine would stink or taste weird.Husband loves it and that makes it even more great also provides three levels of warmth regarding keeping your hot coffee at the right temperature Definitely recommend this coffee maker. The power cord is only about 20 inches long. The #1 thing that you’ll find bothersome is the difficulty in pouring water into the reservoir. That one had a hot water feature that we wanted but, after the 1 year failure, we couldn’t buy another Mr.
I really like having the combination of making coffee or tea. Please note if you plan to buy do not purchase the extended warranty because that only kicks in on year FOUR.On both, the warming plate began to rust very soon after purchase. The problems are two: The clock does not function and did not from the moment we brought it to life – a minor thing because we have other clocks available to us.Alas, the reason I’m writing is because I just had to "order" a fourth.Keeps the coffee hot with no heating element. Then the hot water dispenser sputtered and spit TOO hot water for any one nearby it while it was heating! We got it replaced for $20 shipping and handling. This would mean I would not have to refill it constantly during the week.I love the additional hot water tank for teas and such.I bought this retail price about 6 years ago, we parted ways due to unforeseen circumstances .I had no problems, leaks, or defects… a couple design flaws but I could live with them.in about a month the hot water reservoir stopped working.Within a couple months, however, the hot water started smelling like the coffee. Not only does the coffee taste good but it stays warm for many hours so you can have coffee later in the day too. Here are the positives1.After researching coffee pots for wayyy to long, I decided on this one.We purchased this one for two reasons, one we wanted something to heat up hot water and we wanted a red coffee machine to match our other appliances. The the morning after this arrived I had programmed the maker to turn on at 7am.Amazon was great in helping me get a replacement from Cuisinart .When it’s heating unit finally died, it felt like an old friend had died.
