I am glad that I decided to buy it, anyway. And as for the claim that it will keep your coffee piping hot for several hours….I didn’t want to spend $100 on another; I wanted to avoid any machines that used pods.I get up early in the morning to work from home before I head to the office, and I was looking for a drip maker that I could start while I showered and have good coffee waiting.Since the late 80’s….I weigh both water and beans to gets consistent cup.Carefully reviewed the instruction booklet and followed those for "before first use".I was trying to give up using my Nespresso machine because it is so expensive.Got this one and followed the few instructions for the set up before actually brewing coffee .I was searching for a simple 5 cup drip coffee maker to replace an old 10 cup "Cuisinart Grind and Brew.Recently it would only use half the tank of water then stop, the water is not as hot like it was when new. After much thought and the price drop, I pulled the trigger on this one.(I had a Krups machine a few years ago that produced equally good coffee at a fraction of the cost; not surprising, since both machines use the same method of brewing and filter shape/size.However, I only brew about 16oz at a time.I had gotten tired of making manual pourover Chemex brews in the morning. It is two parts hinged with a spring and coffee can will stay in between parts until you take it apart and that is not an easy job.It was the bigger unit and is far superior to this item.Coffee 4 cup brewer and using pre ground coffee, aka not a coffee expert..This pot does make very good coffee.

I gave it one star because it does make coffee.I’d turn it back on, it’d make another cup and then shut off.Cons:Poor design all around.Since I normally only drink coffee in the morning and I live alone, I decided to replace it with the smaller, 5-cup version, which seemed appropriate since I now have a much smaller kitchen As soon as it arrived, I got it cleaned and prepped and brewed a pot of coffee, even though it was 3 o’clock in the afternoon.I have not found this to be the case. The Bonavita has a thermos ready as part of its system.I’ve had many different kinds of coffee makers and recently we’ve been using the Keurig.Without the sealing lid, it’s impossible to pour the coffee without a mess.I’ve been roasting my own beans for 4 yrs and since 1970 grinding whole speciality beans. This picture doesn’t show you where the actual lid to the thermal pot is… because you have to leave it on a counter or in a drawer, guaranteeing that you cannot find it when you do actually use this pot.Comparing side by side with my Aeropress, this makes the same beans much more bitter than the AP.My main gripe is that it is inconvenient.I came back to this machine because it specializes in smaller batches. One cup at a time and I got great coffee just as I remembered it .Many reviews talk about the leaking caraffe. It does make very hot, strong coffee.Sadly, it leaves a puddle of perfectly brewed coffee on my kitchen counter.I would say for what I paid, it’s a five star product.Because of daily cleaning in the dishwasher. The pre infusion is simple .

Full stop.Coffee, which I have always liked, but must admit that the Bonavita gives better flavor. The coffee itself is fine -but the carafe leaks and I can’t figure out exactly where it is leaking from but it seems to be from the handle area or around the black rim connected to the stainless steel – and it is a massive leak – not just a little trickle.First, there is no pause feature. It doesn’t take much counter space.Very attractive appliance and a nice small size, perfect for small batch coffee.it certainly gets the water hot enough for extracting good coffee flavor but it has a few issues the the keep it from being a excellent coffee machine. On top of that there is nowhere to set the filter section. It brews amazing coffee and is extremely easy to use.My means of making coffee previously was using the Aeropress, filtered cold water, Capresso 560 burr grinder, Bonavita Gooseneck kettle set to 195° and 2 scoops of my typical brand Dunkin Donuts whole bean coffee.I’ve been using this coffee maker every day since receiving it on Dec 10th, 2019.The new carafe doesn’t close well and leaks.30 and started using on 31st.I strongly suspect my hard water is to blame for burning out the heating element, so take this as a warning, DON’T FORGET TO DE-SCALE YOUR COFFEE BREWER.But other than that, it brews quick, keeps the coffee hot, and makes for a more even taste/flavor of coffee. They do.This is it.I can brew any volume from 3-5 cups without losing any quality.cups every time, so I thought this little Bonavita would be a perfect replacement. The carafe doesn’t keep the coffee hot.
